Rugtved Mathotel® is an storage and sorting system for rolled mats. The general idea is to minimize the space for storage and at the same time reduce manual handling off mats, especially logo mats. The system contains the mat in beds that are free hanging in chains more or like the principal for a Paris wheel. Today many Laundries have a manual storage system with tubes. This is used since the logo mats need a defined stock position in order to find it whenever it is needed for packing. Depending on the logistic in the laundry, the logo mats is handled several times. For example a logo mat will in many laundries have at least five manual handlings after the dryers, before it is in the distribution car/truck. With Rugtved Mathotel® handlings is reduced to two, or even one in combination with our Robot Packing system (ready winther 2011). When a rolled mat comes out off the Rugtved Rolling machine it will be transported through a RFID scanner to the Banding unit. If the banding unit has a printer, the information for the mat is printed on the paper band and the banding unit will “strap” the mat. After that, the mats go directly into the Mat hotel, where it will be put into an empty bed. Each bed has a barcode and the information from the barcode and the RFID chip in the mat get married. This is the same technology as we know from garment sorting systems. The system can be scaled for the specific customer and one standard section is 500 beds. Every section can be fitted into a standard trailer or 40 foot containers. The sections can be positioned on top of each other, and it will be possible to store 1000 mats on 14,5 x 2,4 meter ground floor and 6 meters in the height. Since the system is able to load mats in and at the same time unload mats in tour sorted order it will be possible to reduce the amount off storage capacity with about 40% compared with a manual “tube storage “ and at the same time the system reduce a lot off handling for each mat.
